BIPP Course with Kevin Wilson
I’ve recently returned from a fantastic one day wedding photography course run by Kevin Wilson, a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) plus just about every other photographic association going. The morning was spent discussing posing and light-shaping using reflectors and then in the afternoon we all went to a church with a model to put the theory into practice.
Here are a couple of shots that I took on the day in what was actually a very dark church by the time we stated shooting at about 4pm. I love this shot for it’s simplicity – it screamed out for a black and white conversion to really emphasise the texture of the veil and the shape of the lips, nose and cheekbones. The model was positioned in front of a large window so that the light fell across her face producing a beautiful rim light. To simplify things even further I’ve darkened the background slightly in post production.
