I’ve slipped behind a bit with my blogging of late as I’ve been working on a submission for my Licentiate qualification from the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and I’ve also got a new website and blog in the pipeline that has chewed up huge amounts of time but which I’m very excited about. This time of year also sees a flurry of bookings for the Summer so all in all there’s been plenty to keep me out of mischief!
Back in the latter part of last year Matt and Jess were married at a lovely little church in Chillesford Suffolk. Jess had told me that the service was to be at 4pm and would be entirely candlelit – technically challenging I thought! Armed with my Nikon D3s and some wide aperture prime lenses I headed off to meet up with Jess at her parent’s house. When I arrived all was calm and Jess and her sisters were tucking into a final meal before the big occasion (complete with champers of course).

Following on from yesterday’s post. Here are some images taken on my second day of the conference, this time with great Californian photographer Joe Photo. We headed off to the South Bank for the shoot but the weather had deteriorated a little by the second day and it was cold with flat, unexciting light. The introduction of portable strobes added some much needed punch to images but drab skies and damp conditions (check out the bottom of Viv’s dress in later shots) meant the shots taken without flash required a good dose of Photoshop to give them a bit of punch.

I recently returned from the annual Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers convention down in London where I had a great time learning new skills, catching up with old friends and meeting new photographers. The opportunity to learn from more experienced photographers from around the world was the main attraction for me and I booked two full training days, both of which used various London landmarks as a backdrop to the pictures. In this post I thought I’d share with you some of the images that I took on the first day with John Denton, a wedding and fashion photographer based near Hull. Photos from the second day will follow in a later post.
John had managed to secure access to a disused tube station just off the embankment which was a fantastic location for some really atmospheric shots. Here are some of my favourites from the day with various processing styles (not all suitable for my normal wedding work but sometimes it’s fun just to play ;@)

Just a quick post to let clients know that I’m at the Society Of Wedding and Portrait Photographers annual convention for the rest of the week. It’s the biggest photographic convention in Europe and a great opportunity to catch up with other photographers, take advantage of training from some of the greatest wedding photographers in the world and hopefully source some new products for this year.
I’ll have my laptop and phone with me, but with a packed program, email and phone responses may take a little longer than usual.

As 2011 has now started in earnest I thought I really should try and catch up on blogging the remainder of the weddings I shot in 2010. Today’s post is from the wedding of Tom and Kate who got married at the Swan Hotel in Lavenham, Suffolk just before the snow started to blanket the country in earnest.
Kate’s dress was fantastic and the light in their room really showed it off at its best,
